Easiest No-Oven Granola Recipe on a Budget

About Granola

Granola is a food that is made in multiple ways that mainly entails combining oats, nuts, seeds, a sweetener, some dried fruit, and some oil.

We love to serve our Granola as a loose breakfast cereal combined mostly with yoghurt or milk.

Oftentimes, we will relish it as it is, eating it and taking it down with a cup of our favorite Kenyan tea.

Granola is also a healthy breakfast food that is rich in protein, fiber, and micronutrients due to the fact that one combines several healthful ingredients to make the granola.

How We Developed this Granola Recipe

Granola is definitely one of our family favorites, especially for our children.

Because I have not always had an oven, I learned to figure out how to make many oven-baked recipes without an oven.

At my sister’s suggestion, I came up with this granola recipe. She also gave me invaluable input  from her own experience making no-oven granola.

I worked on the recipe to a point I felt sure others would love this granola recipe without an oven.

Sharing our No-oven Granola Recipe

The reason I am sharing this granola recipe is because it is by far our favorite way of making granola.

It also gives one an opportunity to make and enjoy granola even in the absence of an oven.

I first shared this recipe on YouTube here with an overwhelming positive response so far.

It was time to share it here with a wider community.

I trust you will enjoy this granola recipe without an oven.

Interestingly, even when we acquired an oven, we still revert to this way of making our granola again and again. It really works!

Because the ingredients of this particular Granola recipe are readily available, healthy as well as nutritious, this no-oven granola recipe has become part of our weekly breakfast menu.

Equipment

  • 1 Flat Pan
  • 1 Wooden Spoon
  • 1 Tablespoon
  • 1 Measuring Cup
  • 1 Saucepan
  • 1 Metal Tray
  • Baking Paper Optional

Ingredients

  • 2 Cups Traditional Oats
  • 1 Cup Roasted Groundnuts
  • 2 Tsps Peanut Butter
  • ½ Tsp Salt
  • Cup Dried Fruit (I used Raisins)
  • 5 Tbsps Honey
  • 5 Tbsps Cooking Oil

Instructions

  • Step One:
In a suitable frying pan, begin by roasting the oats on your stove. I like to use a fairly heavy pan that I’ve preheated to ensure the oats roast evenly for about 5 minutes. Roast on medium to low heat so that the oats do not burn.
Stir the oats constantly the entire time so that they can roast evenly now that oats will roast really fast.
Once the oats are ready, switch off your stove. Stir the oats continuously for about 2 minutes because the pan is still hot. Set aside.
  • Step Two:
    Prepare the roasted groundnuts.
I like to rub the groundnuts between my palms to skin a few of them. If the groundnuts are well roasted, the skin comes off very easily. Then we can have a beautiful mixed-color collage of cream and brown groundnuts.
  • Step Three:
Combine the salad oil, honey, salt, and peanut butter in a suitable saucepan.
Bring these ingredients to a boil. Allow this mixture to simmer on medium heat for about a minute.
  • Step Four:
Next, significantly lower the heat to the lowest you can get it to, and add the oats and the groundnuts.
Combine all the ingredients with your wooden spoon until they are evenly mixed. Work with very low heat the entire time.
  • Step Five:
Line a suitable metal tray with baking paper then transfer the granola onto the tray.
Spread the granola out on the tray. If you love your granola chunky, ensure to spread it out while maintaining a thickness of about an inch or so. if you prefer them less chunky spread them out to form a thin layer.
Once you’ve spread the granola out, evenly sprinkle your dried fruit on the granola then use a spoon to mix the dried fruit into the granola as much as you can so that the fruit doesn’t remain on the surface only.
Allow the granola to rest for 2 minutes.
  • Step Six:
After two minutes, the granola is warm enough for us to go in with our spoon and break it into sizeable chunks to our liking.
If you don’t like the chunks, you can still break the granola down with your spoon so that it can loosen even further.
The chunks will harden and hold together firmly as the granola now cools off.
    Your granola is basically ready.
  • You can enjoy your granola just as it is. You can also serve it in yogurt with fruit.
    Enjoy!
Enhance your hospitality for the glory of God.
