How to Make Passion Fruit Juice at Home (Quick & Easy Recipe)
Equipment
- Blender
- Sieve or fine mesh strainer
- sharp knife
- Lemon squeezer (optional)
- Mixing spoon
- Measuring jug or cup
- Clean storage jug or bottle
Ingredients
- 8 ripe passion fruits
- 2 medium-sized lemons
- Sugar to taste (Start with 5–6 tablespoons)
- Slightly less than 1.5 liters of clean water
Instructions
- Wash Your Fruits ThoroughlyThis step is often overlooked, but it’s extremely important, especially when making raw juice. Since we are not boiling or cooking the fruits, we want to ensure they are clean and safe to use. Wash your passion fruits and lemons under running water and gently scrub the skins to remove any dirt or residue.
- Cut the Passion Fruits in HalfOnce clean, slice each passion fruit in half. You’ll notice the juicy pulp with small black seeds inside—this is what we’re after. Use a spoon to scoop out the pulp and place it directly into your blender jar. There’s no need to transfer it to another bowl, which helps reduce dirty dishes.
- Roll and Cut the LemonsBefore cutting your lemons, roll them on a clean surface while pressing down with your palm. This helps to release more juice when you squeeze them. Once softened, cut the lemons in half and squeeze the juice directly into the blender with the passion pulp. You can use your hands or a manual lemon squeezer. Be sure to remove any seeds.
- Add Sugar to TasteStart by adding 5–6 tablespoons of sugar. If you prefer your juice on the sweeter side, you can adjust later after blending and tasting.
- Add Clean WaterPour in clean drinking water until you reach just below the 1.5-liter mark on your blender jug.
- Blend in Short IntervalsBlend your mixture in three short bursts, each lasting about 20 to 30 seconds. Start with a low speed and gradually increase to high. Allow your blender to rest for a few seconds between bursts to avoid overheating. After the second blend, use a cleans poon to taste the juice. If it’s not sweet enough, add a little more sugar and blend again for a few seconds to incorporate it well.
- Sieve the JuiceOnce you’re happy with the flavor, it’s time to remove the hard seeds. Using a fine sieve or strainer, pour the juice through into a clean jug or bowl. Stir gently with a spoon to help all the liquid pass through while keeping the seeds behind. You now have a smooth, tangy, and naturally sweetened juice that’s perfect for serving chilled!
