Proverbs 31 Woman Explained: A Biblical Guide to Godly Womanhood (Series)

Tracking the Proverbs 31 Woman – Series (Introduction)

The Proverbs 31 passage has sparked more discussions, debates, and reflections than perhaps any other Bible passage about women. Songs have been sung, poems composed, and books written—all inspired by these powerful verses. But what does it really mean to be a Proverbs 31 woman? This blog series seeks to have the Proverbs 31 woman explained in a way that is both biblical and relatable.

It’s a question I have pondered, reflected on, and researched deeply in my heartfelt desire to be a godly woman just like the Proverbs 31 woman.

Perhaps, like me, you’ve asked yourself this question. And when you tried to “become,” the possibility of being “that godly woman” kept shifting like a mirage. You wondered if this was even possible.

Well, is it possible to be a godly woman like this near-perfect woman we read about? Is this even conceivable in this time and generation?

In a world where feminism and modern ideals challenge traditional roles, this chapter remains both an inspiration and a point of contention. For that reason, this series offers the Proverbs 31 woman explained in a way that speaks to women in every season of life.

Why the Proverbs 31 Woman Still Matters Today

As a young adult woman, I read Proverbs 31. I later read it several times after that. I was fascinated by this woman, dreaming up in my mind possibilities of marrying Mr. Right, having godly children, running an efficient household, and even bringing in a fortune from entrepreneurial ventures—just like the Proverbs 31 woman.

Thank God for His mercy and wisdom. It didn’t take long for me to realize that life doesn’t always take the idealistic picture we often form in our minds. Unless we were living in the Garden of Eden pre-fall, this “perfect” picture I had envisioned of how life was going to be wasn’t real.

That’s what led me on a deeper journey—praying this Scripture, memorizing it, and asking God for understanding. Over the years, the Proverbs 31 woman explained through personal study, real-life experience, and the Word has transformed my thinking.

Several years later, I wrote a book based on this passage. You can find it on Amazon here if you’d like to buy a copy for yourself.

I later began what I’ve called The Formations of a Noble Woman, Proverbs 31 Program, where we study this passage for three months as women, seeking to align our lives to the will of God in light of this passage.

This exploration and study of this passage is what inspired this series. I trust that every post will help you as a woman towards being all that God made you to be.

What’s the Big Deal About Proverbs 31?

As women redefine their roles in society, many struggle with the Proverbs 31 chapter.

Some see it as oppressive or outdated, while others embrace it as a blueprint for a life of purpose, wisdom, and godly character.

The reality? This blog series has the Proverbs 31 woman explained not as a historical figure, but as a model—a timeless representation of the qualities that honor God and uplift families and communities.

She is a goal for which to realize is a process. God calls us to grow into noble character, just as Jesus called His disciples, saying:

“Come, follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” (Matthew 4:19)

This passage is not about perfection but progress. It’s about trusting God to shape us into women of strength, wisdom, and grace. Freeing, isn’t it?

Her “becoming” is a process—one that starts long before marriage and continues throughout her life.
