What Is a No Oven Vanilla Cake?
A no oven vanilla cake is simply a cake baked using an alternative method instead of a conventional oven.
In this recipe, we use the stovetop baking method, where the cake cooks slowly over very low heat in a covered pan.
The result is a cake that is soft, moist, and beautifully baked without an oven.

No Oven Vanilla Cake (Stovetop Recipe)
Equipment
- Mixing Bowl
- Wooden spoon or whisk
- Measuring cups/spoons
- Wide pan and lid (for stovetop baking) (Preferably 10 inches in diameter)
- Knife or toothpick (for doneness test)
Ingredients
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- ½ cup sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla
- ⅔ cup milk (May vary)
- Optional: Lemon zest from 1 medium size lemon)
Instructions
Prepare Your Pan
Grease your pan and lightly dust it with flour.A wide pan helps the cake bake faster and more evenly.Mix the Dry Ingredients
In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.Mix well using a wooden spoon then make a well in the center of these dry ingredients.- Add Wet Ingredients and Make the BatterAdd eggs, oil, vanilla, lemon zest if using, and half of the milk. Mix with your wooden spoon.Add the remaining milk and mix until smooth.
Transfer to Pan
Pour the batter into your greased and dusted wide pan.Bake on the Stovetop
Cover and bake on a very tiny flame for 35–40 minutes or until done.Check for Doneness
Insert a toothpick or knife into the center. If it comes out clean, your cake is ready.
