Tracking the Proverbs 31 Woman – Series 9
A woman’s worth according to Proverbs 31 is described in priceless terms—far above rubies. This truth reminds us that a noble woman’s value is rare, hidden, and beyond measure. Today, we pause to reflect on the second part of verse 10 and uncover why her worth is so highly esteemed in God’s eyes.
If you are new to this journey, I invite you to begin with the Intro to the Proverbs 31 Woman Series. You can also revisit the previous blog – Where to Find a Proverbs 31 Woman (Series 8), where we explored her formation in obscurity, God-orchestrated discovery, and rarity.

Why Is She So Rare?
Finding a noble woman is an uphill task, as we saw in the first part of verse 10. In this second part, we learn why she is so rare—because her worth is incomparable.
Gold, silver, diamonds, and rubies are treasured precisely because they are rare. You don’t find them lying around in the street; they are hidden, safeguarded, and highly prized.
I remember years ago walking along a deserted street in our capital city. I was wearing a gold-coated chain I valued greatly. In a flash, it was snatched from my neck and gone. That moment reminded me: even a little gold is worth stealing. How much more is a woman of noble character—worth far more than rubies!
Jesus compared the kingdom of God to hidden treasure that a man sold all he had to obtain (Matthew 13:44). Job also describes men digging deep into the earth to extract precious metals (Job 28). Yet the Proverbs 31 woman is described as more valuable than even these treasures.

A Woman’s Worth in God’s Design
To understand a woman’s worth according to Proverbs 31, we must go back to creation. In Genesis, God created everything in order, preparing a perfect environment before creating man and woman in His image (Genesis 1:26–27).
The man and woman were placed in a garden of abundance, tasked with fruitful labor, and given the joy of walking in fellowship with God. Their worth was not tied to possessions or beauty but to their identity as image-bearers of God.
Yet in Genesis 3, sin entered the world. Adam and Eve disobeyed God, breaking fellowship with Him. They became spiritually dead and vulnerable to the enemy’s lies. But even in judgment, God offered hope: He promised redemption through the Seed of the woman who would one day crush the serpent’s head (Genesis 3:15).
The garments of skin that God provided in place of their miserable sewn leaves reveal a profound truth: an animal had to die. Blood was shed so their nakedness could be temporarily covered. This foreshadowed the greater sacrifice to come—the blood of the perfect Lamb of God, Jesus Christ—shed centuries later to deal with sin once and for all.
In Christ, not only is sin overcome, but every effect of it, including struggles with identity and self-worth, finds its lasting remedy.
Redeemed at a Priceless Cost
This promise was fulfilled in Jesus Christ. Through His death and resurrection, He redeemed humanity and restored our worth.
“You were bought at a price.” – 1 Corinthians 6:20
A woman’s worth according to Proverbs 31
A woman’s worth, according to Proverbs 31, is ultimately rooted in redemption. Her value is not in outward charm or beauty but in the blood of Jesus, shed for her salvation. The true price tag on both woman and man is the precious blood of Christ poured out on the cross. That is how much God values us—He gave His own Son.
Jesus, who is fully man, identified with humanity to redeem us, and being fully God, He rescued us from darkness and brought us into His marvelous light. Nothing can compare with this kind of worth for the one who surrenders to Christ, is restored in Him, and lives under His authority.
A woman becomes “worth far more than rubies” because of this price paid, and because of who she is now in Christ—a child of God.
No wonder John declares with joy:
“How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” (1 John 3:1)
I know this truth personally. For years I thought I had to validate my womanhood through marriage, my appearance, my performance, and other outward measures. But when I surrendered to Christ, I found true freedom, forgiveness, and the assurance of my worth in Him. My value is no longer defined by the world’s standards but by the priceless blood of Jesus.

This truth carried me through singlehood. While others around me married sooner, I came to realize it wasn’t because I was less valuable or less beautiful, but because God had a unique plan for me. Whether single or married, I am precious and fully valued in Him.
The Contrast Without Christ
For the woman who has not yet placed her faith in Christ, her reality is tragically different. She remains under the enemy’s deception—spiritually dead and without hope. She can be easily swayed by anyone who falsely validates her worth, such as misusing her body in sexual relationships while imagining this is love.
She may believe the lie that her worth is found in practices like yoga, in imitating media personalities, or in seeking approval through her outward appearance. She might dress in ways that expose her body to attract attention, or even adopt pride or moodiness to project superiority.
All of these are what I call “sewn leaves remedies.” They are temporary coverings that prevent us from facing our true need for God. Only He can redeem us, and only His love—demonstrated through the death of Jesus—can fulfill us and give us a secure identity in Christ.
God’s remedy is sufficient. He restores those who believe, heals esteem struggles, and anchors our worth in Him.
How does a woman experience this?
She must acknowledge her sin, trust in the finished work of Jesus on the cross, and surrender to His Lordship. Only then can she live in the freedom of her God-given value. Only then can she know she is precious in God’s sight—her worth truly far above rubies.
Conclusion: Worth Far Above Rubies
So, how precious are you, woman of God? Your worth is far above rubies—not because of what you do, but because of what Christ has done. You were bought with a price: the blood of Jesus.
A woman’s worth according to Proverbs 31 is not measured in gold, diamonds, or worldly standards. It is measured in the immeasurable love of God and the sacrifice of Christ. No wonder the queen mother could only describe her as more precious than jewels.
If you have not yet experienced this redemption, I invite you to surrender to Christ today. Only in Him will you discover your true worth.
