Tracking the Proverbs 31 Woman – Series 8
Have you ever wondered where to find a Proverbs 31 woman? The Bible describes her as rare and priceless, more valuable than rubies. She is not someone easily discovered in the usual places of the world, but a woman whose life is hidden in God.
As we continue our Proverbs 31 series, we now turn our focus to verses 10–31, where Scripture gives us a closer look at her day-to-day life, her reputation before her family, and the noble character that makes her truly precious.
“Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies.” – Proverbs 31:10
This reflection is part of our ongoing Tracking the Proverbs 31 Woman series. If you’re new here, I encourage you to begin with the Intro to the Proverbs 31 Woman Series to lay a strong foundation for this journey. This passage opens with a profound question: “Who can find a virtuous woman?” This tells us immediately that such a woman is rare, and her value, like rubies, is incomparable.
But where do we find a Proverbs 31 woman? Where is she formed? How is she discovered? What makes her so precious?
Let’s dive into 3 biblical realities that answer the question: Where do we find a Proverbs 31 woman?
1. Her Formation Happens in Obscurity
God forms noble women away from the noise—in the quiet rhythms of obedience, surrender, and hidden service. Much like Jesus, who often withdrew to solitary places to commune with the Father, the Proverbs 31 woman is shaped through intimacy with God, not through popularity or public applause.
As a young woman growing in ministry, I often admired godly women doing exploits for the Lord. I would find myself wondering how they “got there.” Not because I necessarily desired their platform, but because I questioned whether anything I said or did could ever deeply impact someone else.
I thank God for a dear mentor who not only taught but modeled the simple disciplines of Quiet Time, fasting, and seeking God in hidden places. She would sometimes invite me to tag along as she sought the Lord in a quiet park or secluded corner.
Through her, I learned that lasting impact is birthed not in the public eye but in the secret place with God.
Now, as I see what the Lord is doing in the lives of women through the simple truths I share, I know without a doubt: a woman who longs to influence others for God’s glory must first be made in the secret place.
Public spaces often tempt us to perform or create a façade, but in the secret place God shapes authenticity, humility, and eternal fruit.
This is not obscurity born of fear or insecurity—it is purposeful hiddenness in Christ (Colossians 3:3). A noble woman isn’t hiding from the world. She is hiding in God, becoming more like Christ, learning His ways, and living out His will in the daily faithfulness of ordinary life.
And it is often in that secret place, where no one else sees, that God is quietly preparing a woman of noble character to be revealed in His timing. Which brings us to the next reality: her discovery is always God-orchestrated.
2. Her Discovery is God-Orchestrated
Like Rebekah, who was found at a well while simply doing her daily duties, the Proverbs 31 woman is discovered in the course of everyday faithfulness—serving, obeying, and loving God (Genesis 24).
This truth reminds me of my own story when my husband was “looking” for a wife. We didn’t marry very young, and for a long time he longed for a wife who would walk with him and support his calling as a full-time minister among the youth. When he couldn’t find such a woman, he concluded that perhaps none were left—at least not the kind he was praying for.
One day, as he shared this burden with his mentor, the mentor casually asked, “Have you considered Clara?” Long story short, I had always been within his reach, but somehow the Lord had “hidden” me until the right time. About a year and a half later, we were married. Looking back, we both know without a doubt—God Himself orchestrated our marriage at just the right time.
Just as with Rebekah, and even in my own life, the Proverbs 31 woman is revealed not by chance or self-promotion, but by God’s perfect timing.
And this leads us to another key reality: the rareness of her character. The more God works on her, the rarer she becomes—and the more precious her life is in His hands.
3. Her Rarity Reflects Her Worth
When I think about how God makes a Proverbs 31 woman rare and precious, I am reminded of how even in my own life, the Lord has often kept me in seasons of refining.
There were times I longed to “shine” or be noticed, but God instead placed me in hidden seasons where He was dealing with my character, teaching me patience, humility, and deeper faith. At the time it felt like delay, but looking back, I now see it was His refining hand—shaping me into a vessel fit for His purposes.
Just as gold must pass through fire before its brilliance is revealed, the Proverbs 31 woman becomes truly rare and precious as God works in her through trials, seasons of waiting, and even painful refining. That process is never wasted. In fact, it is what sets her apart from the world and makes her life shine with eternal worth.
This is why Proverbs 31 declares that her value is “far above rubies.” A noble woman is not made quickly, nor is she made for the applause of people—she is made for God. And the more He works in her, the rarer and more beautiful she becomes.
Where do we Find a Proverbs 31 Woman?
In the end, where to find a Proverbs 31 woman is not a mystery to those who know the Lord. Her formation happens in obscurity, as she seeks God in the secret place. Her discovery is God-orchestrated, revealed in His perfect timing. And her rarity reflects her worth, refined by His hand until her value shines brighter than rubies.
The Proverbs 31 woman is always found in God—hidden in Him, molded by Him, and revealed for His glory. May we, as women of God, choose to remain in that secret place, trusting Him to form us into women of noble character.
Final Thoughts on Where to Find a Proverbs 31 Woman
So, in conclusion, we find the Proverbs 31 woman:
In the Lord.
In the secret place.
Quietly walking in surrender, letting God refine, teach, and mold her.
If you long to be that kind of woman, don’t chase the spotlight. Chase after God. Hide yourself in Him. Allow Him to work deeply in your heart. Remain yielded, faithful, and teachable—whether single, married, a mother, or a mentor.
It is in the hollow of His hand that your character will shine the brightest, even when no one is watching. And in His time, He will cause those who need to see you—whether a husband, a ministry partner, or someone to disciple—to find you.
Remain hidden in the Lord, woman of God. That’s the best place to be… the best, for your formation.
